OzZope Background

• OzZope began on the  31st August 2001 when David Lutz, Jan Smith, Richard Volpato and Hasan Kacmaz  built the first Ozzope website in DTML and attached the Mailman mailing list.  Meetings were organised in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide in September 2001. 
• The OzZope website is hosted for David Lutz and Jan Smith at  iMeme in Colorado.  Melbourne Zope Development Company Obsidian now host the Mailman mailing list.
• Melbourne has been holding regular meetings, Sydney has occasional meetings. 
• We have 181 members on the OzZope mailing list and 160 people have joined this website. (Plone version 1.5). 
• Members mainly come from  Australia, but we have members in New Zealand, Europe and the US. 
• OzZope has organised two Zope 3 Development Sprints at Trinity College, Melbourne University with  (Zope Pope) Jim Fulton CTO of Zope Corporation overseeing the quality of the coding.  Local Zope companies Vivitec and Opaltree funded the first sprint, the second sprint was funded by a number of generous members.  
• Quite a few Melbourne members have travelled overseas this year for various Zope projects.
